As of May 28th 2010 Silver Creek is in a low
water condition. The Wood River Drainage is experiencing a drought
condition this Summer due to low snowpack last season. If we experience
high daytime temperatures, Silver Creek will be stressed. The Nature
Conservancy has hired Ecosystem
Sciences, a non-profit Boise-based consulting firm, to develop a
comprehensive plan to restore stretches of Silver Creek and its
tributaries that need most help, and to use the restoration methods that
will have the most conservation benefit. This is very exciting in that
Silver Creek needs to be managed as a whole system and not as a piece
here and there. You can learn more about this at
this link. And as in the past SSC
is deploying more thermometers the first of June to augment thermometers
already deployed throughout the system. The new
SSCMapping site is up and
running and has had great reviews for it's in-depth mapping of past,
present and thermal images. As usual we will strive to keep you informed
was new developments present themselves.
